OPENING AND ALUMNI AWARD CEREMONY

On October 30, 2024, the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education had the honor of opening the new academic year with a vibrant welcome to 32 new international students. Among these eager minds, three talented individuals hail from Uganda, ready to dive into their studies in water management.

The ceremony was hosted by Prof. Eddy Moors, the esteemed Chancellor (Rector) of IHE Delft, who warmly welcomed the diverse group of scholars. Prof. Moors emphasised the importance of their unique roles in addressing global water challenges and fostering a spirit of innovation and collaboration.

A highlight of the event was the Special Award Ceremony, celebrating the remarkable accomplishments of Dr. Florence Grace Adongo. As the Executive Director of the Nile Basin Initiative (NBI), Dr. Adongo’s groundbreaking work in Water Resources Management has made significant impacts, both nationally and internationally. Her dedication and passion for sustainable water management have inspired many and paved the way for future advancements in the field.

Dr. Florence highlighted the important role women play in water management and encouraged more women to join the field.

In a show of diplomatic support, Amb Mirjam Blaak represented the Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in Brussels, highlighting the close ties and collaborative spirit between Uganda and IHE Delft.

This ceremony marks not only the beginning of an academic journey for the new students but also a celebration of exemplary leadership in water management. We look forward to witnessing the contributions these students will make and the continued impact of leaders like Dr. Adongo in creating a sustainable future.
