General information


European nationals holding an EU passports need an entry visa for Uganda.
\r\nNaturalized European citizens of Ugandan descent need an entry visa for Uganda.


Visa Exemptions


Nationals of the countries listed below are exempted from visa requirements for travel to Uganda. They do however, need to have a current passport issued by their respective countries.


Members of COMESA: Angola, Burundi, Comoros, Eritrea, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius, Madagascar, Rwanda, Seychelles, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.


Others exempted are: Antigua & Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Fiji, Gambia, Grenada, Jamaica, Lesotho, Malta, Sierra Leone, Singapore Solomon Islands St Vincent & the Grenadines, Tonga, Vanuatu, Italy (Only diplomatic passport holders) and Cyprus.


Visa Requirements:


    One duly-filled Application Form for each applicant

  1. Every section of the application form must be completed. Incomplete forms will not be processed.

  3. Two (2) passport-size photographs.
  4. \r\n
  5. All passports must be valid for at least 6 months from intended date of departure.

  7. Applicants may be requested to submit additional supporting documentation, such as letter of invitation,financial documents, evidence of travel arrangements, hotel bookings etc.
  8. \r\n
  9. An International Immunization Certificate against Yellow Fever.

Visa fees and other details:

45 Euro for a single entry visa valid for three(3) months from the date of issuance.

95  Euro for Multiple entry visa valid for six (6) months from the date of issuance.

95 Euro for East African visa valid for three(3) months from the date of issuance.

Useful information:

  • Visa fees must be paid upon submission of visa application. 
  • The visa fee is non- refundable and only payable by bankcard(debit or credit card) The accepted cards are Visa, Maestro,Mastercard, and Vpay.
  • The processing time for a visa is one working day, provided the application is submitted between 9.00a.m. and 12.00p.m. No visa applications will be received after 12.00p.m.
  • All visa applications must be made in person. Mailed or posted applications will not be processed.
  • Every visitor is required to have  a passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry into the country.
  • Failure to complete the application form fully may result in the delay of issuance of the visa.
  • The visa enables the holder to proceed to a port of entry where he/she must comply with the laws and regulations governing the admission of persons to the Republic of Uganda. Issuance of a visa does not guarantee entry into the country. That is at the discretion of immigration officials at the point of entry.
  • Visitors should not overstay their visa valdity otherwise they will be subjected to a fine/penalty and any other appropriate legal action. If visitors whish to stay longer than the period granted upon arrival in the country,extensions can be sought from the Immigration Headquarters in Kampala before the expiry of the initial visitor's pass.
