Uganda's envoys abroad converge for their annual conference.

The Rt Hon Prime Minister, Ruhakana Rugunda has today 3rd January opened the 7th annual ambassadors conference at Speke Resort Munyonyo with the theme,"Delivery of the strategic objectives of Ministry of Foreign Affairs."

In his remarks, Dr. Rugunda gave a key note address where he reiterated the need for Uganda's High Commissioners and Ambassadors to work effortlessly in ensuring they contribute to transforming Uganda to a modern, middle class and prosperous country by 2040.

"Iam encouraged learning that the focus of this conference is to create a shared and deeper understanding of the strategic objectives of the ministry of foreign Affairs." he further noted.

On his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Hon. Sam Kutesa delivered a statement on the strategic objectives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and briefed the envoys about the priorities for the 69th session of the General assembly and Ugandas chance to benefit from the presidency.

The retreat was also addressed by the Head of Public Service, Mr. John Mitala, the chairman Public Service commission, justice Ralph Ochan, the Permanent Secretary/ Secretary to the Treasury, Mr Keith Muhakanizi, and the Chairperson of National Planning Authority Mr. Kisamba Mugerwa,Chairperson parliamentary committee of Foreign Affairs, Hon Dr. Sam Okuonzi.

In attendance were the 35 Heads of Mission and their deputies and heads of departments at the Ministry of foreign Affairs Headquarters.
